June 1 - Getting Over That Hump

I can’t believe it is June already and I haven’t posted since April! Well, this was due to real life interfering and a break in creativity.  Have you ever experienced that '3rd year slump'? I quoted a university year because that is when most students experience it - 3rd year. Tough to continue sometimes. In every long project, there is that 'time' where you have to push through.

More specifically, my Character Artist needs a break, and to find and reenergize herself.

I gave myself the end of June to finish the book. We only have about 4-5 illustrated scenes left to finalize.  This deadline is possible, and with the sunshine, warm weather, and many energy walks, I hope we can find that special creative energy.  I won’t give up.

What is in the Studio’s Pipeline, you ask?

I have started planning our studio’s next 2024 project – this will be more of a physical project rather than digital illustrations and story writing.  I have been exposed to many, many different concepts and art projects when I went to NBCCD (2018-2021).   Wonderful experience. I also have been interested in many different art forms over the years, dabbled in them, and purchased LOTS of art items that currently fill our studio!

My plan is to incorporate felting, modeling of ‘houses on a street’ using  cardboard boxes, acrylic painting (maybe), animation or stop motion.  This involves set design, character design, illustration for storyboarding (valuable for any project), and animation or stop-motion.  I have done animation before but never actually tried stop motion. I’m not sure which is more tasking.  I may have to create a new story or may use a portion of our existing stories from the Inktober Instagram postings.

Strictly in the planning stage of the mind right now but when I do start, it will be in a separate project page.

Meanwhile, first priority is to finish the book!
